About Us
Our church is a vibrant community with something for everyone, from programs for children and youth to multiple Bible studies and ministries that serve both our members and the wider community. Whether it’s studying our mid-week Bible studies, ministering to people in our local community, or worshiping together on Sunday mornings, there’s always something happening here. Everyone is welcome to join in our fellowship—no obligation required. We simply love being together, growing in faith, and serving others with open hearts and open doors.
At the heart of our church is a deep sense of community and a passion for missions, which have always been central to our mission. As we enter a new season of focus on addressing poverty in rural communities, we’re committed to breaking intergenerational cycles of hardship, rather than just placing a temporary fix. This transformative approach not only impacts our congregation but also the local community, creating an intergenerational experience that brings lasting change for all involved.
Our History
Grove Park Baptist Church began as a mission from First Baptist Church in July 1953. At that time, forty-three people indicated their desire to become members of the "mission." Those forty-three and their willingness to join the "mission" marked the beginning of Grove Park Baptist Church, duly constituted on April 15, 1954.
After meeting in different areas of Clinton, they established the church at 609 North East Blvd, where it still meets today. The following Easter, in 1954, the church met for the first worship service in the Sanctuary. The church had a period of steady growth, which required the construction of a new Sanctuary in 1978.
This church, which has existed since 1954, would not have come to fruition without the Lord's leading and the tireless efforts of all its members. One should only look at the church minutes to see how the Lord worked to fulfill needs as they arose. It is truly amazing how the Lord works in mysterious ways.
You may access the history of Grove Park Baptist Church in detail from the book written by members, Grove Park Baptist Church: The First 60 Years, located in the church History Room, The Archives in Raleigh, NC., and the J.C. Holiday Library here in Clinton, NC.
